Quarto plates (QRT)
Also known as QRT, quarto plates are the result of a discontinuous rolling (meaning piece by piece production) according to current European standard, EN 10025 respectively.
Quarto plates as well as hot rolled coils and sheets are produced against high temperature under several rolling process in 1 135°C and they are the results of a controlled production process up to the level of *860°C, this would be the point that the plates and sheets present as finished goods.
Quarto plates can be provided in different qualities according to current European standards and we will present below some that our company is trading in the Romanian market. Delivery conditions can be *AR (as rolled) or +N (normalized); surface conditions follow the European standard EN 10163-2.
Generally, chemical composition and internal structure are the key factors that can indicate if:
- The plates can be galvanized following the two chemistry conditions of the euronorm:
- Class I 0.14 % ≤ Si ≤0.25 %
- Class III cumulatively P≤0.035%
- Homogeneus internal structure can be certified based on the non-distructive test (ultrasonic) conform EN 10160
- Edge inspection E0/E3 according to EN 10160: 50 mm
- Surface inspection S0/S3 according to EN 10160: 200 mm

In the case of quarto plates, the thickness tolerances are more flexible, within an interval of -0,3/+2,4 mm, cumulatively influenced by thickness and width. The European standard EN 10029 sets very clearly all the dimensions’s tolerances allowed and any other additional conditions that are to be imposed.

Sheets can be in standard format (2000X6000, 2000X12000, 1500X3000 and 1500X6000 mm) or atipic format. Customized dimensions can be performed in our mills, valid only upon specific order.
Other thicknesses and dimensions or according to other internationally recognized standards can be delivered upon request.
